There it was gone

He was gorgeous, wasn't he? And he had an MGB. No wonder I fell in love with him!

So, having been to Slice last week we weren't planning on celebrating last night but I felt I couldn't go to Zac's and leave Husband on his own, and if I stayed we'd just have a takeaway and watch television as usual, so we went out. To On the Rocks, a new restaurant overlooking the sea near the pier.

It was okay. I had garlic prawns to start - can't go wrong really - and cod rigatoni for main. I always find a pasta dish just goes on and on, so that was nice sauce for the first umpteen mouthfuls but after that got a bit boring. Not to mention filling. I think, these days, Slice excepted, I'd prefer to go for ice cream or cake and a cup of tea rather than what is usually an average meal.

And it was to Verdi's I went with Vivien this morning for my regular hazelnut basket. Then it was into town with the intention of making an enquiry that went further.

Yes, forty-seven years and one day after it was put on my finger my wedding ring finally came off.
And I think it was probably a good idea as it is red and there's a little lump underneath it at the back. My trigger finger was quite bad when I was eating last night so that encouraged me to go and enquire.

But when the man said, "Yes, I can do it now," he must have seen the look of horror on my face as he followed it up with, "That is if you want me to."

There was no point hesitating.

I'd planned to have a little browse in town afterwards but with tear-filled eyes I wasn't able to concentrate so came home instead. I now have to wait a couple of weeks to allow my finger to restore itself then I'll go back, they will measure it, and can resize my ring.

I did think for a while that a new ring might be nice but sentiment wins. My £12 ring will do me for the rest of my days.

Ooh, painful! My mother had to have her ring removed when she broke her wrist. She had been wearing it for 60-odd years, so it was quite a wrench.
You'll be much more comfortable now and your resized ring will feel like new. 😊

I'm glad you're keeping the same ring. It's got history.

I get my ring looked at/cleaned every six months. There have been a couple of times over the years where I've had to leave it so they could do some service. I always feel naked.

I couldn't stand it. I gave up wearing a ring altogether.

Stopped wearing a ring years ago as did hubby. We know we’re married. That is all we need to know.
