Face the music

You know that little strip at the bottom of your monitor? Mine has a weather thing on it and it's currently saying, "Rainy days ahead," so obviously I am compelled to face the music and dance. Which is just as well as today is a really gloomy and miserable wet day.

I told Husband I had cabin fever and I'd only been indoors for half a day. He said, "What's cabin fever?"

I'm ready for Zac's tonight: I've prepped and made blueberry muffins. And I'm sure there are lots of things I should be doing but I'm tense and have to had to resort to doing a jigsaw. It's the one thing that I can rely on to focus my brain.

Intermittently I browse fjord cruises, find an attractive-looking one, and then read that it carries over 6,000 passengers, and am deterred. Also amazed at the price of some cabins on some cruises. And yet they fill the ships. If we were to spend over £8,000 on a week's holiday I'd keep thinking about all the other things we could be spending the money on! Like taking the children on holiday or something.

River cruises are another option. Lots of people enjoy those.

You could take your 5598 closest friends on the cruise so that you & your husband would be among friends.

Have you looked at European river cruises? Much smaller boats and fewer passengers, many stops to explore. You're basically gliding along looking at scenery and eating etc. they also attract a different demographic, probably less noisy!

I've never priced fjord cruises, but I know there are so many ocean-sailing ships you can often find great sales.

We feel the same about vacations these days too. If we are going to spend money like that, we’d go on vacation with the family.

I can relate to cabin fever. I don't get out much any more.

Ugh, cabin fever. I've had a few bouts of it, and it always makes me yearn for a getaway too. On a boat with 5,998 strangers doesn't sound that appealing.

A river cruise from Passau to Cologne, over 8 days , costs 1700 Euros for mid-deck cabin per person. All inclusive.

We have done the cruise thing when we were younger not interested now.
It is a perfect day here but sadly we have that rain icon too. This is the third day of sunshine after 10 days of rain and tomorrow starts another 4 days of rain I am beyond over it.

We have done two Fjord cruises the latest on MSC Virtuosa. which cost £1500 for 7 nights inside cabin with drinks package. We find the size of the ship does not really matter, there is always somewhere quiet . We did the last cruise in September which is a bit late in the year, it is better in the height of summer when there is more daylight hours. We love to get up early and go on deck to see the fjord as the ship sails up, there are very few people about then have breakfast in the buffet and if it is dry to sit out at the tables on deck. Next it is off for a day of walking and just sitting taking in the natural surroundings before returning to the ship and a beer. We usually eat about six or seven again in the buffet, then maybe go to a show stroll through the bars list3n to some music before going to our cabin to read lights out by ten. We never see the party crowd we are up before them and in bed before the parties start. But you may want to party all night.
