What the sign meant

I remembered what the note about sign meant! I had commented to Husband that I was going to make a sign to hang around my neck saying, "He's doing great, thank you."

It's the first thing everyone asks me. As it should be, and it's lovely of everyone to be concerned. I just run out of different ways to say it.

I also realised that it was my fault that people wrote so much in the psalm-writing exercise yesterday. I began by saying, "You've heard some of our writings and now it's your turn to write." So people thought they had to write full sentences and poetry when all I wanted was phrases, the heart of what would be the prayer. It was easier when I did it at Zac's because people there were less inclined to write essays instead saying, "Give up drinking," "Look after my family," and things like that.

Bev, my wonderful cleaner, is coming this morning so, obviously, I've had a quick tidy-up. I'll be off out to lunch later with Daughter and Daughter-in-law to celebrate D-i-l's birthday this time.

It's also my anniversary, that is, my Duoversary.

Five years of learning Welsh and what feels to me like very little progress. Sometimes I am impressed by what I can do but mostly I forget words, and verbs. Oh, tenses! Present and perfect, um, and I think a bit of future, I can do, but the other past tense. Different ways of doing it have just confused me totally. When I'm doing the set exercises I'm fine: I do them perfectly. But trying to put that into everyday use by reading something in Welsh and I wonder if I've been learning the wrong language all along.

Five years of learning Welsh already -- where does the time go? At least you are making the effort to learn, which is important, even if you're not fully fluent yet!

We always said we'd learn Welsh if we moved to Wales, but we didn't so we didn't. Well done, you.
