If I were Paul Simon I would have written a song.
"I'm sitting in a waiting-room, uncertain of my destination, whoa-oh-oh."
But I'm not Mr Simon so I read all the notices (bad idea for a hypochondriac), try to translate the Welsh versions (50-50 success), attempt pipe-joining game on my phone (fail), and regret the seat I chose, which is at the front and doesn't allow for people-watching.
I'm with Husband for his regular cardiac appointment, and he's having an ECG, so I'm twiddling my thumbs.
When we get in to see Professor Chase (I am disappointed he looks nothing like Chase in House) the doctor says Husband's echo shows he is now into the 'needs a new aortic valve' range. The professor pioneered keyhole valve replacement so presses that option.
However as Husband is in the age group for which open heart surgery is recommended, professor says he will make an appointment for Husband to see open heart surgeon to discuss that option.
Then professor notices Husband's hands tremble and decides to refer him to a neurologist, as he wants to be aware of any other health issues before he sends Husband for 'the biggest operation of your life'. Wish he hadn't said that; I was calm about it before.
So Husband goes in with one problem and comes out with two potentially. I'm sure that's not the way hospitals are supposed to work.
But as the professor said, what with all the tests he had for his pneumonia last month plus these he is having a full MOT.
We were at the hospital by 9.30 but already the car parks were full to over-flowing. I dropped Husband off near the Cardiac Centre and as I did so a man walked past and made various hand signals. I took these to mean: are you looking for a parking space? I'm going. You can have mine.
I could have kissed him.
Then in the afternoon I dragged Husband out for a short walk to Blackpill to see some castles. It turned into a quick splash as the heavens opened, so I didn't get to photo the third castle.

Had keyhole at 71 so can recommend. No problems.
Best wishes to Husband for his upcoming surgery!
I pray any issues are handled quickly and well. It sounds like your husband is in good hands!
Happy Forts and Daffodils are both beautifully colourful.
Hope the surgery goes well - heart surgery is so good nowadays and such skilled people
I love the Happy Forts! Heart surgery is very good these days, as Sue says.
And I genuinely absolutely thrilled that things seem to be moving speedily for his treatment. Other bits of the NHS seem quite broken. My husband went to his GP recently, who phoned the consultant whilst he was there. The guy said "yes I appreciate his case is urgent, but so is the case of everyone in the queue. I will see him in 18 months" (and that's just the 1st app with consultant, GP has no idea when the necessary op will happen) praying for Wes Streeting, in his new role in parliament. And praying for your beloved _ for efficient treatment and speedy recovery 🙏❤️😊
Best of good wishes on the upcoming surgery. I hope it's soon done and you can both resume your happy forts.
Your husband is in good hands. I hope there is a swift move towards operating. Waiting for serious things makes them worse and gives everyone more time to worry.
Yay for skate parks and happy forts!
Sounds like your husband's "handlers" know what they're doing. Best wishes for it all!
It seems as though many of us seeing doctors and hospitals lately.
Hope all goes well for your husband, my son had heart surgery at Swansea and is fine, a good hospital
The hospital part doesn't sound like fun. Hope all goes well with that.
Love those castles.
