What's your glimmer moment today?

I ordered two more skorts. When they arrived I looked at one pair* and thought, "They're enormous!" I tried them on this morning. They're not.

If only thinking used more calories. It should on account of it being very important. And, unlike physical exercise, I do a lot of it.

* Is it a pair of skorts? No, it can't be. A pair of shorts but a single skirt. That could drive a grammar pedant wild.

* * * * *

Younger Son left home many years ago but I still feel a sense of relief/satisfaction when I'm putting away clean washing and find an even number of socks, even better if they're all pairs.

I saw a meme on Twitter this morning and I looked up the idea it proffered, which is that glimmers are the exact opposite of triggers: a cue that brings a sense of joy or safety. The concept of glimmers is part of polyvagal theory and the term glimmer was introduced in 2018 in the book The Polyvagal Theory in Therapy: Engaging the Rhythm of Regulation. Obvious examples are seeing a rainbow, stroking a pet, being in nature, the perfect cup of coffee etc.

But as well as those, for me, finding an even number of socks is a glimmer!

What are your glimmers?

I get glimmers all the time, though the term is new to me, thank you. I had one a few minutes ago, tea just right, hot enough, strong enough, lovely moment.

Funny how we feel small until we look at the clothes that fit, oh.

Thanks for introducing me to the concept of "glimmers!" So many things can be glimmers if we just tune in to them.
