And still the bees

Went for a walk in Parc Le Breos this morning with Husband, Daughter, Elder Son, grandchildren, and dogs. Back in October 2022 Elder Son found a bees' nest in an old fallen tree.

Younger Son, the apiarist, suggested I contact a local bee-keeper as he feared the bees might not survive the winter. I did so and a bee-keeper went along and put a little door over the entrance to keep it safe.

On our walk today Elder Son again checked the old tree and the bees are still living happily there.
You can see a little of the honeycomb when you peep in past the edge of the door.

I'm amazed the bees are still there -- must be a good spot for them!

Thank you and son for protecting the bees. I guess they are generating enough body warmth in their small area to keep well. Clearly productive, too. What will happen to their honey?

Home improvements are necessary even in the bee world.

Is the long term plan to move the hive to a new place or let it stay there?

That was nice of both your son and the beekeeper.

Boud, I assume they'll use all the honey themselves. I don't really know what happens in the wild!
Kathy, it's close to a path but hasn't bothered anyone yet so I guess it will stay there.
