An addict it's true

My name is Liz and I'm a jigsaw addict. Once I start I can't stop. "Just one more piece."

This is the one I began yesterday.

I had good intentions to do lots of 'stuff' today but I was waylaid.

Two days to do a 1,000 piece is nothing though compared with the people who really take it seriously. On his blog Stu tells us about Hans-Josef Schaad who recently completed a 54,000 piece in a new record time. The previous record was 137 days but he managed it in just 99.

That set me on the track of other jigsaw records.

In 2020, according to the Guinness Book of Records, Sarah Mills completed a 1,000 piecer in 1 hour and 40 minutes.* The largest collection of jigsaw puzzles is 1,260. The jigsaw puzzle with the most pieces was completed by 1,600 students in 17 hours in Vietnam.

And in 2013 a team from Dubai Police completed a 168 sq m puzzle - underwater!

* If you want to attempt to beat a record you should know you can't use your own jigsaw. To ensure fairness Guinness provides the jigsaw so you can't practise beforehand.

My father had the same issue. Once he started a jigsaw, he simply could not leave it alone.

I guess my piece now and then, while the kettle boils, doesn't come close then.

There are worse things you could be addicted to :)

wow, well done, 1000 pieces in two days. I've done two since just before Christmas, and have more lined up. After not doing any for over a year I'm hooked again!

I didn't know about the Guinness people providing a puzzle, but it makes sense.

Isn't it nice to be able to spend the time if you want to.
