Two sore arms made it difficult for me to sleep on my side, my preferred position, and my brain ran amok. None of my usual ploys for falling asleep worked so I feel as if I've been awake most of the night.
I wondered if trying to recite the alphabet backwards would send me to sleep. It didn't but I can now recite the alphabet backwards.
In other news I said that we took Toby for a walk with us. He is a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever, their job originally being to toll or lure ducks into coming within gunshot range. Yesterday he did his usual disappearing trick - I can't imagine how many miles he runs in the course of a walk - and suddenly there was a squawking noise and a duck flew up out of the trees.
I'm sure it was completely accidental and Toby was probably as surprised as we were but we did give him a clap for being a 'clever dog'.

I have nights like that. It's especially bad when the pains are pulsing. Sometimes, I get relief by switching to my chair. The angles are different there, and it can help.
Well done, Toby. He must have been thrilled!
I hope Toby quickly took credit for living up to his ancestry! After he got over his surprise, that is. And I hope the arms don't bother you a second night.
Instinct will out! Bravo, Toby!
