Now if Tommy Shelby had said this

If you're not familiar with Peaky Blinders, it's about gang life in Birmingham in the aftermath of the first world war. The Peaky Blinders gang takes its name from the flat caps they wore. The caps had razor blades stitched into the front and could blind a man.

Toby Dog loves our garden. Trouble is he has a habit of escaping, we're not sure how; thought we'd blocked up all the routes in George's heyday. Trouble also is that our garden runs all the way around our house. This is lovely but frustrating if you're trying to find a husband or a dog. Going in circles is not uncommon.

So trying to keep an eye on Toby when he's out there entails following him around. Fine unless it's late at night, raining, or dinner's ready. When I call him, he looks at me, then calmly sits down, never breaking eye contact.

There's nothing I can do and he knows it.

Except resort to getting a treat to tempt him in.

Smart dog knows a treat is in the offing! Or a race around the house.

I've never watched Peaky Blinders because those caps with razor blades just freak me right out.

I tried that show. It wasn't for me, but others seem to like it.

We don't have that so we couldn't watch it
