Silence!

Today I am having a no-talk, no heavy breathing, time. The chatter of the last week has taken its toll on my throat and I am resting it.

It's not bad, you understand. Just wavering and I want to make sure it wavers in the right direction. So I didn't go to the gym this morning and I will be sensible for the rest of the day.

I might even pick up my writing work-in-progress and review that. If I'm feeling brave enough.

PipeTobacco asked about our NHS. Once the pride of Britain it has been underfunded for years by progressive governments, and, as a result, is in a dire state. Over-worked doctors and nurses and other staff are leaving, waiting lists are huge, and people are struggling to get appointments to see their GPs.

People who've called 999 have to wait ages for an ambulance and then often are left in the ambulance again for ages to be seen. (Triage nurses check everyone as soon as possible after arrival and score them for urgency.)

The NHS, the concept of free health care for all, and its staff are still brilliant. It's the government that is rubbish. Though they deny it, it's generally accepted that the Conservative plan is to sell off the NHS, privatise it, and turn it into an American-like system.

I despise the Conservative party.

On a lighter note Husband just made me get in touch with Talkmobile to find out why I'd been charged an extra 90p on my monthly package.

I played stupid - not hard as I really don't understand any of this - so the agent explained in words of one syllable what I'd done - sent photos on MMS. (I mean, I thought I could do that and I don't really understand but Husband is happy.)

I also thought they were called SMSs, not that I know what either means.

Thankfully it was all done by text so I didn't have to talk to anyone. (Not because of my throat but because I hate talking to techy people as I never understand.)

American friends, are you happy with Joe Biden's decision to run again? I am curious.

Re Biden's announcement-I think he's doing the best job he can. However, in a country the size of the USA I think that a younger person should run for the job.

If Pres Biden were incapacitated, it would be different. He is not; therefore, I support his running for re-election. Just as Ronald Reagan did not exploit Walter Mondale's youth, I won't hold his youth against Joe Biden. (George H.W. Bush was the last US President who was older than was I at the time of his election.)

Hope your throat is feeling better.
Our health care system drives me crazy sometimes. The insurance companies have more control than some doctors do.
Joe Biden? Doesn't surprise me that he's running again. I wouldn't vote for him though. I have a very low opinion of him.

Biden is like a mob boss and his administration is like the mafia. Even if someone younger / better / smarter were able to push him aside, I doubt anything would change. We would just have a different mob boss.
