A safety pin to the rescue

Getting ready for the gym this morning and a button burst off my shorts. And to think I had been hesitating about going.

Husband found me a safety pin so all was well.

But I had a mushroom omelette for lunch instead of the giant oats porridge to which I've become addicted. With just a little smattering of cheese, well within Slimming World guidelines. Wonder how long I can keep this up.

I posted about my misfortune on Facebook and a friend suggested I skip the gym and sew the button back on. I would rather go to the gym than sew.

This safety pin will do me for a long time. It's not the first time my shorts have been held up by pins.

What shall I do now? Husband has gone for an ecg - bad wife that I am I can't remember if that's electro or echo but I know it's like pregnant ladies have, so possibly echo. Hope there is no deterioration.

I read about Miss Buncle's Book on Terra's blog and decided I had to read it. It wasn't available in the library so I ordered it, it came promptly and I've now finished it. And it is a delight.

Miss Buncle lives in a quiet English village. Her dividends have fallen so she needs to earn some money and decides the best way to do that is by writing a book. Her book causes a huge stir in the village as everyone gradually realises they're in it, and they don't like to read the truth about themselves.

A really charming and funny book. 4*

I'm not sure who the character on the cover of this edition is meant to be but it certainly isn't Miss Buncle!

My book has the far more respectable cover indicating a Persephone edition.

After you mentioned Miss B I borrowed the ebook from my library. I'm just up to where people are starting to realize who's in the book! Thank you. Fun so far.

I've had to use a safety pin or two in the past. You gotta do what you gotta do :)
