Postscript to previous post

Yesterday Penny Mordaunt, Tory MP for Portsmouth North and recent candidate for the Prime Minister's job, boasted on Twitter that she had opened three new food pantries (nicer name than food bank?) in her constituency.

How is it that she - and  other MPs who have made similar boasts - doesn't see what's wrong with this?

She is a member of the government that is charged with looking after its people, at least I thought that was its job. Latterly it seems to have mutated into looking after those who can look after themselves.

Governments are all too willing to shirk their responsibilities towards the less fortunate.

That woman could do something on a national level to address the issue. Shame on her!

I continue to agree with you. From here it looks as if the politicians in power like the power but don't like doing the actual job.
