Back behind bars

It was great to be back in prison today for the first time since lockdown began. And for a carol service so that little bit extra special. Lots of men attended, took part in various ways, and were all quiet and respectful. Hopefully we'll be going in again regularly in the new year.

I have to say though that prison warders are getting awfully young!

Elder Son's birthday today as well as the World Cup final. A birthday tea was planned but some members of the family are under the weather so it's been postponed. But Husband and I are going there for football, cake and present giving. (I'm mainly there for the cake obvs!)

Many years ago when I was in private practice, I agreed to do a seminar about family law with prisoners at a nearby federal penitentiary. But right before the scheduled date, there was a big prison riot and the entire facility was locked down for quite awhile. An invitation to reschedule the seminar was never issued.

We were in the prison chapel once when the place went on lockdown. Fortunately it didn't last too long.
