After giving up Wednesday exercise class and, for weeks, finding excuses not to go to the gym with Husband, this morning I finally made it.
Twenty minutes on the treadmill, ten on the bike - it hurt my bottom - and fifteen rowing, followed by about twenty minutes of other machine and floor exercise. I was taking it gently as befits a first time, so after forty-five minutes of aerobic exercise I'd still only used two hundred and sixty calories!
But that's still probably more than I used to use in my Wednesday class, and at one point my heart rate reached one hundred and fifty. And I'm still alive so that's okay.
At one point I noticed they'd started playing the Peaky Blinders/Nick Cave song, which I love. When it began again a bit later I realised it wasn't the gym playing it: it was my phone ringing.

Doctor of Philosophy, or the next Doctor Who?
He wishes!
A PhD is a fine thing to have. Good for you for going to the gym. Now that it's a bit cooler where I live I'm getting out to walk regularly.
Love,
Janie
