Only strong-toothed people should apply

The delivery is expected this evening so Husband and I were free to take Toby for a walk this afternoon. I suggested Pwll Du. (Pwll = hole, Du = black.)

"We can go the boring way, where Toby has to be on his lead a lot, or the interesting way."

Husband opted for boring but I persuaded him.

That was my first mistake.

Have you ever walked with someone who walks ten feet behind you silent except for the occasional deep sigh? It's wearing.

The interesting way is down through Bishopston Valley or Cwm Llandeilo, where 'cwm' is valley and 'Llandeilo' is the Welsh name for Bishopston meaning church of St. Teilo. Admittedly the path was everything Husband dislikes in a path: it went up and down, it was narrow and slippery, and there wasn't a good view - unless you count the trees which Husband obviously didn't.

But Toby and I enjoyed it.

Was it worth it? Tell me what you think.

I suppose my answer must be a qualified yes. Next time I'll go without Husband.
Here he is standing on a beautiful beach looking at his phone. To be fair he was looking for a quicker way back. (There wasn't one.)

The good thing about the silent treatment is that it allowed me to write this blog post in my head. And it stopped Husband asking his favourite question: what's for dinner? (Baked beans on toast - which he likes but I fear then would not have been a good moment to tell him.)

Zac's tonight. Last week I made a tray-bake biscuity thing, which was a bit under-cooked. I never have the right size pan even though I have lots of different ones. This week I've made an apricot flapjack. Same problem, wrong size pan, so to make sure it wasn't undercooked I cooked it for an extra time. A lot extra. I think I shall have to suggest that only people with strong teeth should eat it.

And here are some roses from our garden, still in flower in October.

Yes, leave the grumpy one home next time! You and the dog are entitled to enjoy your walk. The cake could be presented as a dental challenge.. And thank you for the occasional translations from the Welsh, interesting.

Oh dear, you will not be getting a Paul Hollywood handshake for that apricot flapjack then, I guess. But I'd gladly eat a slice!

Your roses are very pretty, especially the yellow roses. Your sea destination on your walk seemed to make the walk worthwhile, grumpy man or no.

Leave him at home next time. Or go his way and sigh a lot.
