How was it for you?

The temperature hit 32.9 in the shade in our garden this afternoon. I know that's practically winter for some of you but for us it's high. And in places it was even higher. Then this happened.

And it rained for all of ten seconds.

Meanwhile in the greenhouse the tomatoes are flourishing. A warm sweet tomato straight off the bush. Delicious.

And, just because, here's a daisy.

We are currently in the same ballpark as you… this week we are having highs in the mid 90s (F) all week long (~ 35 C). With our high humidity, it can be exhausting at times. We too just harvested our first tomatoes from our garden. We only have two red ones thus far, but about 20 tomatoes look like they may all ripen simultaneously in this week. We have also harvested a large amount of chard, zucchini (you call them “courgette” which is such a beautiful word!!!), lots and lots of herbs, four acorn squash so far, and a cabbage.

That's about as hot as I can take, unless I had air conditioning.

I have blooms forming on my tomato plants now. Just a tad behind you…

Lovely tomatoes - ours are long done now. So, that's about 91 deg F?? Hot enough though I see on the news that temps in that part of the universe are reaching past hot to extremely hot.

We hit 41.1 C, but we do have great air conditioning which we had set to 26.7 C. We are in a two or week stretch of nearly all triple-digit high temps - not too out of the ordinary for our part of the world. You must be really suffering in your part of the world! (I recall our own pre-air-conditioning days.

I envy you your tomatoes. Our temps have been too high for fruit to set on.

I just read a sobering thought: We are living through one of the coolest summers we shall probably see for the rest of our lives. Cheerful thought!

It reached 39 deg here. For two days I kept windows and curtains closed and sat in my comfortable recliner drinking water, reading and drifting off to sleep! Last year I had some lovely daisies just like yours, but this year just bare stalks, I think something has been eating them :-( Nice tomatoes.
