How to plan a murder

There are quotes on the front of the novel I'm reading. "Funny and magnificent." "Hilariously entertaining."

I think the quotees must have been reading a different book.

It's okay. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

"An elegiac portrayal of modern marriage."

It's a depressing portrayal if all modern marriages are as sad and struggling as these.

But speaking of novels . . . my work in progress has taken an unexpected turn. It's thrown me slightly and I need to do a little research if I'm going to follow its trail. It involves devising a cunning murder plot. How crime writers manage it so convincingly and repeatedly is a source of awe to me. Indeed I don't know how criminals can plan to cover their tracks in the days of traceable phone calls and cameras everywhere.

So you can rest assured if I ever murder anyone the police will soon catch me.

I know where I am with love and romance.

And weird dreams. Yesterday I dreamed I had to go to the dentist but what was proposed was so dangerous - it seemed to involve cutting open my jaw - that no-one wanted to to do it. Today I was to enter a school baking contest but it was nearly time to go and I hadn't got anything ready, I couldn't remember the recipes, and I'd already made one thing - which I shouldn't have done anyway - and it had been a disaster.

No wonder I had a stiff neck when I woke up.

A day lily and lots of little figs getting ready for next year!

Well, Blogger has no problem plotting a murder because it just killed my comment again that I left you this morning!

I wonder if that is partly why comments are down! Plus the hot weather and people abandoning blogging.
