Waging war

Working in the garden for a short time yesterday. I cleared this bit of ground and planted two new shade-tolerant plants.

Before I started Husband said, "If you spot any bamboo roots, pull them up."
"Okay," I said.

I didn't like to tell him I don't know what bamboo roots look like. But I tend to work on the dig-it-up-and-worry-about-it-afterwards principle anyway.

Now I need to find some shade-tolerant bigger shrubs to put at the back.

Meanwhile after all the difficult work of thinking, planning, choosing and buying what's needed for the far corner, I have handed over to my labourer i.e. Husband, to do the rest. He made a start on flattening the ground. Today it is too hot to do any work apparently.

Speaking of hot, on what will probably be our hottest day of the year so far I forgot to take my water bottle to exercise class. And I forgot my hankie and that's probably an even bigger crisis. Fortunately I was able to equip myself from the hall kitchen.
This particular rose is doing amazingly this year. Actually all the roses are but this one is really flourishing. We, um, relocated it when it was little from its original position on the tip. We happened to have a spade with us when we went for a walk one day . . .

In its former life it was a typical single petalled wild rose; as you see now it has numerous layers. I'm sure layer isn't the right word but you know what I mean.

I did as suggested and emailed the radio station producer. The trouble with Christians is that they expect other Christians to be spiritual too. Regarding whether I should carry on he said, 'Seek the Lord on that."

I've never known how to do that. Life has always just happened to me or I've fallen into things. I like to think it's God guided or more realistically God pushed because I'm incapable of making decisions.

Oh, and I've also signed up for a mini-course on The War of Art. In the first episode they suggest that "creating art is kin to waging war, and they name the one universal monster we all face." I'm hoping it will get me back into writing. If I can win the battle that is stopping me listening to the course!

Was the radio station able to provide any useful feedback in terms of actual comments, listener numbers, or data like that?

Nope. He said they get about 8,000 listeners over a month but none of the programmes get feedback. He has suggested a change of schedule and has put me with a good male speaker. He wrote, "Regarding what you say and how you say it what I will say is that you keep it real which really highlights the title of the show." Everyday Life.
I just want to be told I'm wonderful really! It wouldn't take much!

That might be about all the encouragement you're going to get from that source. Maybe you'd be happier on a monthly rather than weekly schedule. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, or does it?

Those "relocated" plants tend to do the best!
