The phone rang this morning. I saw it was Daughter and groaned because I knew what she was going to say.
"Do you want to come for a swim in the sea today?"
Daughter, Daughter-in-law and I walked the short distance to Pobbles. I thought it would be quite empty but there were lots of people there including a group of children in the water.
"It can't be that cold then," Daughter said.
"Children are stupid," I said.
It was very cold going in but once in it was lovely. Once our bodies had fully numbed up that is.
We're so fortunate to have this on our doorstep. The beach that is not glamorous super models like the one pictured. (I had to delete all the other photos that made me look just too too fat!)

Not many people quote John Masefield these days, so well done!
I think that every day - I must go down to the seas again ...
And none of those pictures made you look fat!
Yes, you ARE lucky to be so close to the ocean.
What a wonderful beach! Ocean beaches are so much more “spectacular” than lake beaches.

That looks like a Yorkshire beach, miles of lovely sand, freezing cold sea! Good for you for venturing in.
Did you get the tall ship and the star to steer her by??
Well done Liz, it takes me ages to get into the water, even in Australia! It has to be VERY HOT for me to go into the sea in the UK, I can't remember the last time I did.
That looks like a beautiful beach and you look great!
