All over bar the shouting

"What part of 'we're eating at one' don't you understand?"

Husband was greeting people thus yesterday as they all turned up late.

Daughter claimed it was because they have never known me to serve a meal on time. Elder Son swore I'd told him one thirty. (I hadn't.)

I will admit that my timing isn't the best but I had made a special effort and everything was ready on time. That'll teach me not to bother in future. Anyway we all sat down and enjoyed lasagne (with a pizza option for children.)

How do you seat eleven people around a table when you only have eight chairs plus two kitchen stools? Simple. You take the two chairs that are broken and lay a rug-covered plank over them thereby providing seating for three instead of two, and the problem is solved.

The one and only good thing about Younger Son and family moving to Italy is that I only have to make two sorts of lasagne - meat and veggie - as opposed to the triple option, meat, veggie, and gluten-free. (Which I would happily make to have them back.)

Lasagne was followed by a choice of rice krispie or rhubarb cakes.
GrandDaughter2 pointing out which cake she wants.

Back to exercise today for the first time in three weeks. I am not looking forward to trying to get out of bed tomorrow.

George had a blood test today to ensure the dosage of his medicine is correct. Vet spoke to Husband about quality of life again. We both think he is pretty happy most of the time - especially when family is here and he gets to eat lots of left-overs. His back legs are still weak and he struggles sometimes, and he has barking for no reason sessions. Also he gets us up several times a night. (Okay, it's mostly Husband who gets up to him but I did at four this morning!) But his demeanour is good and he doesn't seem to be in any pain. And his seizure rate is way down so he's here for a bit yet if we've got anything to do with it.

This evening Tory MPs vote on a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister. He is likely to win and even if he loses the candidates to replace him are just as bad. Grim days.

But did you see the Queen and Paddington? It was the only bit of the jubilee celebrations I watched.

I had heard of the Paddington but hadn’t seen it. Thanks for sharing! It is charming!

The lasagna sounds goods and those desserts look delicious! Good enough for the Queen AND Paddington Bear!

Speaking of desserts, I watched a TV show last night called "Jubilee Pudding" about a baking contest held in Britain to choose an "official" dessert for the Platinum Jubillee. It was very interesting and the winning dessert, a citrus trifle, looked good too -- I'd eat it!

Great partying chez you! And the Paddington skit was the most worthwhile thing of the whole deal. Praying bojo goes. When can there be a GE? High time. The old lady's going down the tubes fast. It seems as if since I left it's fallen apart without me. Sorry!

That's only a part of the sketch, Marie. But the very best bit.
I knew about that programme, Debra, but haven't watched it yet.
I think it's possibly another two years before an election, Boud. Perhaps you'd better come back and save us!

Family dinners are the best. And two types of lasagna - go you! I keep thinking there is a place where politicians are not screwing things up - don't know where that place is yet.
