Why I love my library

I find myself telling Stella, our house guest kitty, that, "Granny's just going to the shops. I won't be long." I don't complicate it by saying I'm going to the library too. George on the other hand understands that the library is one of my happy places so I tell him.

At Oystermouth library I choose some books and then remember another book I wanted to read. Only problem is I don't recall the title or the author so I go to the librarian behind the desk.

"What's this book I'm thinking of?" I say. "It's fairly new but I think she has another one out now and it's got the same style cover. I think there may be a fish on it and it's got lots of little drawings."

We all stare into space for a moment before the librarian says, "Twyford Mystery?"
"Yes! You're the man!"

It's actually called The Twyford Code and he's ordered it for me. Just another reason for loving libraries.

I hear this from librarian friends, patrons who can remember something about the book but not the title nor the author! Surprisingly they can figure it out when they know the patron.

Makes me think of that library meme showing a large display of red books with a sign "I don't remember the title but the cover is red."

We have a great library here too. I use it all the time and they are so accommodating!

When I grow up, I want our library in my house - and the librarians to tell me where the books I want are!

Stella is such a cute name for that adorable kitty!!!!!

I too consider libraries to be my happy space! Even though I can get lost in the Internet…. I do not feel a sense of happiness from meandering around there, but a building of books, organized in a fashion that allows me to find treasures….. that is bliss.

I am hoping you are feeling more “enough” today. You ARE enough, even when you do not feel so.

I love libraries. I use a small one in a neighbouring village and the main one in town.
