Be careful what you wish for

Last Wednesday, after exercise class, I said to Husband, "Either I need to work harder or I need a tougher session." I didn't feel I'd had a good workout.

Yesterday there were only four of us in class instead of the usual ten or twelve, and we were, as Jim put it, the hard core group. If there are fewer people moving between stations of the circuit then it's always quicker so yesterday, instead of our usual three rounds of the circuit we did four.

Be careful what you wish for.

Usually it's the day after the day after that I ache if I'm going to, but already today I have woken up with sore shoulders. Probably something to do with lifting 3kg weights above my head, and thrusting 2kg weights up and backwards. Several times.

In other news, today is not only St. Patrick's Day but also St. Gertrude's. Gertrude of Nivelles that is, not to be confused with Gertrude the Great.

Because a lot of images of her feature cats she has become the unofficial patron saint of cats. (One for HRH here, Debra.) And did you know that in the 13th century there was a Europe-wide cat purge because the Pope was worried about the rise of Luciferianism*, which involved demonic rituals worshipping a black cat.

Here's Charlie, who fully agrees that cats should be worshipped just because they should.

* Not be read as Lutheranism, as I did and was suitably confused. I know the Popes didn't like Luther but that seemed a bit extreme.

Charlie does look quite regal.

St Gertrude of Nivelles is my kinda human! My useless human could learn a thing or three from her.

Good old Gertrude. Always knew there was something about her.
