I wrote a mighty To-Do list for me today with the idea that, if I get it all done, I can have a lovely relaxing day tomorrow.
I began at Sainsburys collecting my order. I anticipated huge queues but was straight in and out. 'That bodes well,' I thought. Then I went to Mumbles.
The road ahead was clear and there was no-one on the promenade. 'This is going to be a doddle.'
But it turned out that was because everyone was already in Mumbles. I drove round the village twice trying to find free parking. When that failed I tried to find paid parking. I couldn't have parked further from the shops if I'd tried.
Then a thirty minute queue outside the butcher's before lugging the 12lb turkey back to the car.
But I'm home now, have crossed lots off my list, and had a cup of tea and a slice of banana cake.
Fortified for the rest of the list now.
While I was outside the butcher's I was trying to remember what Elf used to say. As it turns out it was just as well I couldn't remember as my singing might have put people off Christmas altogether. Then again it might have got rid of the queue.

Yes, the only thing worse than crowded stores at Christmas time is trying to find a non-existent parking space! You did well!
I went to Tesco earlier, about 6.30 thinking it would be quiet, hah, it seemed like the entire population of Chelmsford had the same idea!! I got everything I needed though, and I didn't have to queue.
Tea and banana cake sound like the right way to mellow out.
