When you go to the hairdresser's and come home with a book

The problem with trying to plan ahead and buy Christmas presents when you see something appropriate is that you then out them somewhere safe and only come upon them by happenstance.

It turns out that I am less organised with my Christmas shopping than I thought. Too much for some and nothing for others. It gets especially complicated his year with family in Italy, and flipping Brexit making it tricky to send stuff. Not to mention expensive I suspect. This year could be a sharp learning curve.

Did I mention I went to the hairdresser's on Thursday? During the final snipping and primping Mark, my stylist, was saying he'd recently read John Cooper Clark's autobiography. I mentioned that I'd been looking at that and he recommended it highly so calling in to the bookshop on my way home I came upon it and bought it as an early present for myself. I shall report back.

I've just finished Judge Walden - Call the Next Case. As I'm on jury service in just over a week I thought I should get in the mood, but having dithered over the guilt or otherwise in these fictional cases, I am rather concerned about my ability to make a decision in real life. Good job there are twelve just men on a jury.

Incidentally I enjoyed the book and will get some others in the series. I always loved Rumpole of the Bailey, with which it is compared.

I can tell you how many times I have misplaced presents only to find them after the occasion. Grrr…

I've done that myself - bought more than one gift for one person accidentally. Now I have a list with peoples names - make a note as to what was bought; check that person off. Mostly it works.
