A busy day today.
GrandSon3 played football for the local team this morning for the first time so GranddDad and I went to watch. It was a beautiful sunny morning - but GrandSon's game was in the shadowy part of the park. Three twenty minutes games can seem like three full games when the wind is whipping. But his team won all their games - and not just because they always played downhill and had an extra man.
Speaking of extra men, Wales managed - just at the very last minute - to beat Australia in their final game of the year, partly in thanks to one Aussie who was sent off early on in the match. Still a tough game and a good showing by the mostly inexperienced Welsh team.
Gave the Christmas cakes their weekly dosing today.
And enjoyed a short walk with George in the woods.

When I saw your post title, I thought it meant you were averse to alcohol, but then your bit about dousing the Christmas cakes cleared up that misconception!
I don't actually drink, Debra! Don't like the taste. But I can spend hours in an off-licence browsing the wonderful descriptions, I mean, listen to this:
With a brackish, coastal tinge, this sherried malt will transport you to Bunnahabhain bay, with a smattering of sea spray and dried fruit lingering on your lips.
It's a minor form of literature! Even specialty beers have this kind of purple prose on the cans. I love sendups of this language.
I agree -- the description is probably way better than the taste!
There's a local counterattack, with their beer labelled :
Tastes of hops; only hops.
Yeah - I've never understood the descriptions of various alcoholic drinks - "complex, earthy, with over tones of oak, herbs, fruits, soil or gym socks". Nope, don't care for any of it.
