George and the ramp

Remember that ramp I insisted on buying - against Husband's advice - to help George get in and out of the car?

Well, we got round to trying it out last week.

It was advertised as non-slip but the moment he put his paws on it George started sliding. So that deterred him. Undaunted I kept trying to tempt him up with treats. When that didn't work I put an old bed cover on it.
He was so determined to avoid it that he even tried to haul himself into the boot. Then I gave up and lifted him in.

Husband was proved right. Again.

In other news trying to do all my Christmas shopping without using Amazon is proving to be hard work. But I am determined. I am still buying some presents online but not from Amazon.

How did we manage before?

Why are you avoiding Amazon?
Just a shareholder asking.

I don't like Bezos or the way Amazon apparently treats its employees. I want to support local shops and independent traders.

We did what you're doing now. Went to multiple sources, different shops, and made stuff.

Good girl, I don't like Amazon. Shame about the ramp, it looks very good.

You inspired me to buy presents locally. So far so good.

You might try gluing on a softer, thicker rubber pad…. I suspect George would like and use it then without sliding.

We went off to the nearest big town and looked round department stores until we found something we thought would please. Then we went up to the store's restaurant and had lunch.
It sounds almost quaint now.

I try to avoid Amazon where I can. It's sweated labor, and I don't want to be complicit. It means more mileage on my car and more searching, but I'm doing my best, like you.

That's a big dog to get in and out. I've trained several big old dogs, using treats, to get used to it. But a ramp with raised struts at intervals that they can get a purchase in is best. He's beautiful.
