I was just reminded about my book journal. It really is a wonderful little thing. I saw one on a twitter post, had never thought of the idea - of keeping a record of books I'd read - and decided I had to have one.
Now all I have to do is remember to look at it when I go to the library so I don't come home, as I did recently, with a book I've already read. In my defence I thought it was a sequel and got halfway through before I realised. Obviously a book that made a great impact on me.
I've just remembered why I was thinking about it. Polly reviews Hotel du Lac on her blog and I am fairly sure I have read it but a long time ago.
I only recently discovered The Vinyl Detective, a series of books by Andrew Cartmel about a record collector who gets involved in crime investigations. They're great fun, with likeable characters.
Another book I read just before going on holiday was The secrets we kept, about how Doctor Zhivago came to be published, and the influence of America's secret service in it. Pasternak's mistress was imprisoned for nine years, without trial and in horrible conditions, because the Russians wanted to prevent him writing and publishing the story they feared.
A fascinating read but irritatingly hops back and for in time, which I found tricky to keep up with. My age no doubt.
Maybe this afternoon I will try again to work out why I can't access my kindle account. (No, I haven't got it sorted yet.)

I've tried to read "Dr Zhivago" three times over the years and failed each time. Just too many characters with too many foot-long Russian names. I can't keep any of it straight in my head past the first 20 pages. The movie was good though!
I've not read it nor seen the film but was fascinated by the history.
Omar sharif, I think? Geraldine Chaplin in wonderful clothes. But reading it was a different samovar of fish
I'm hopeless at titles, so writing them would probably help me avoid bringing home yet another book only to roar with annoyance when I see it's not another by the same writer, it's the same one.
Precisely, Boud! So frustrating.
It's great that you are keeping any kind of record of the books you read.
Now that your husband has your puter back up, you might think of digitizing your readings. When I retired, I read 105 library books during the first year. It didn't take me long to start keeping a listing in an Excel file and carrying it to the library on the phone. There is at least one book that I checked out three times, forgetting that I had read it and having left my phone in the car; so, you are not alone in multiple reading land.
I did not know the back story of Pasternak's mistress being imprisoned. My book journal is not so pretty as yours, in fact, it is separate sheets of paper, dating back to about 2013. Messy but it works.
Nice idea - a book journal. I usually make obscure notes on a spiral notebook beside my computer. Unfortunately, I never look at it again because it's full of - - obscure notes. I'll have to look for a book journal.
