Yesterday's embarrassment

So I start to walk across the road, fall off my sandal, and end up sitting in the middle of the road.

This is my sandal - except that's a stock photo and mine is slightly more worn.

How is that even possible?

Fortunately there was no traffic and no-one to witness my embarrassment - except one old lady sitting on her doorstep having a cigarette, and I don't think she noticed. Although she might have heard my, 'Oh for goodness sake, you stupid woman!' as I leapt to my feet.

I wonder what my third embarrassing thing of the week will be.

In other news, England beat Denmark to get to the finals of Euro 2020. I watched most of it with Husband and it was moderately exciting - unlike most of the football matches I've seen.

We will watch the final on Sunday with interest especially as England play Italy. I wonder if it's possible though to get commentary that isn't by English pundits, and who don't get quite so ecstatic and repetitive and downright over the top.

England's big win made the news last night here in Canada. I hope they do well on Sunday!

I just hate it when my shoes fall!

I have headphones for when we have TNT announcers for Trailblazer games. Theoretically I could listen to a radio play by play, but so far I just play music.

I'm happy that your big suffering was to your ego instead of to your body. Falls of any kind can be anything but funny. Keep on keeping on.

Advise: Post a comment with a glaring grammatical error in it to get your third embarrassing thing of the week over with!

Please note that I followed my own advice by misspelling "advice".

It takes a special talent (which both you and I have) to fall off of flat sandals.

I fell off my bike today. Only my husband around. Sore ankle. Hope it’s not broken.

That type of sandal is called a slide. I've had one of mine fall off when I'm getting in my car and it lands with a plunk in a parking lot. In your situation, my next embarrassment would be not being able to get up from the road and sitting there the rest of my life until a car hits me and puts me out of my misery.

Love,
Janie

I can't even keep that kind of shoe on at all. So I'm safe from falling off it, I guess. But I can trip on a curb with the best of them. Do don't do that. It's my specialty. I'm glad you didn't hurt anything more than your pride.

Your experiences are my rebuttal to anyone who may object to my wearing socks with sandals/slides. Slides are easier to keep on when I wear socks. OTOH: The only time I've fallen that could possibly have been blamed on footwear, the footwear was lace-up athletic shoes. Go figure.
