Go for the burn!

Reading comments on my post on exercise reminded me of something.

Many years ago, must have been early years of marriage, I bought both the book and the record of the Jane Fonda workout. I think it was probably the first celebrity book of the sort and was very popular.

All I remember now are the phrase, 'Go for the burn,' and the fact that for years, whenever I heard The Jacksons' Can You Feel It, I would clench my buttocks in time to the beat.

I do remember there was one exercise she described on the record, and even having the book next to me, I couldn't work out what she meant and how to do it.

She may have had surgery on her face but keeping her body in  such good shape takes dedication - and a lack of interest in yummy food - and she's done well.

P.S. The book was published in 1981.

Hasn't Jane Fonda confessed that she was anorexic/bulimic during her days as a workout guru? Excessive exercise is one form of the illness.

I must confess I laughed out loud at your "clenching your buttocks in time to the music" line!

She has indeed!

Has she? Oh my. No chance of that happening to me.

I've just seen this post. I had this record and did the excercises for year. I can still remember most of the routines and music, and my daughters can even remember some of the music!
