Life in slow motion

I told you I'm doing my baseline fitness and cognitive tests tomorrow. Well, one of the requirements is a smart phone -preferably with slow motion video option.

I am lying in bed trying to get to grips with this concept. 'How can it film me in slow motion if I am doing it in ordinary motion? It would take longer to film me than I would be doing it.'

Husband says, 'It depends on the thingy per minute.' (He didn't say thingy but I can't remember what he did say.) Frames? I think that's it. 'Film is normally shot at x frames per minute because at that speed the human eye doesn't see the flicker. So for slow motion it blah blah blah.'

'Oh. Can my phone do it?'

'I don't know.'

Much later, while he's gone for his covid vaccination, I investigate my phone camera settings for frames per minute information. Sheesh, I mutter to myself. Nothing there looks like it would refer to fpm. So I google it - once I've worked out what my phone is - make, model, etc.

There I find a very helpful video. 'Switch on phone. Click on camera. Click on video settings,' she says. 'Then press the Slow Motion button.'

Ah, yes, that would do it.

Well, that was easily solved! Unlike most issues with technology, LOL!

Guess what I've just done? found slow motion on my camera! Many thanks Liz.

I would have to look it up too.

Glad that you have the required technology, Liz. I would have to punt, not having slow-mo (or any other settings) for my phone's camera - which camera probably hasn't been used since 2007 or 2010. I'm a one-note Willy with my phone. I talk to people on it - if I must.

BTW: I would expect the speed of a camera to be in fps rather than fpm.

P.S. Perhaps figuring out how to slo-mo was the first part of establishing your baseline. You passed.
