Conversations in bed

It began with the Six Nations and ended with us trying to name rugby union teams in England.

'When I played for Derby we played a team in the North. It began with a P.'

'Ooh, I know that. Hang on, it's on the tip of  my tongue.' Or more accurately in my case, in the murky mists of my brain.

After some pondering I said, 'Basset's liquorice all sorts. That's got something to do with it.'

Husband didn't look convinced.

You know what it's like when you've almost got the word you're thinking of but it keeps slipping your grasp. You can't think of anything else. It all kept coming back to liquorice all sorts.

Some time later I exclaimed, 'Pomfret!'

Poor Husband. He does have a struggle following the workings of my mind. Although in this case, so did I.

'I think there is a Pomfret cake which is flavoured with liquorice,' I explained. 'Although I'm not sure and I don't know why I think that.'

Husband shrugged. 'That wasn't the team we played.'

Well, I tried. Now I am going to have to google Pomfret cake.

P.S. If you want to know more go here.

P.P.S. Pomfret cakes are also known as Pontefract cakes after a town in Yorkshire. I asked Husband, 'Was it Pontefract?'

'Yes!'

I am smarter than you might think. I never cease to amaze myself.

The route doesn't matter so much as arriving at the destination, LOL!

Well, at least you didn't wake up at 2am shouting the unobtainable word, which I've done before.

Good old Derby. When I use a search engine to find information in my own city (Derby, KS, USA), I must be sure to include the whole string or I'm flooded with links to articles about Derby, England, UK. Just because the population of the UK version of Derby is an order of magnitude large than is the population of the KS, USA version, the search engine finds it important. I've no clue how USA states include a City of Derby.
