Another day, another ...

almost disaster.

Remember I said I was going to run (in the car) to a shop this morning and pick up Christmas lights? Shop was sold out.

I had been warned: I went on their website where they said they were sold out but I didn't believe them. 'That's just for online ordering,' says I. Again. I have become so used to not believing anything I read, I don't believe anything I read.

Actually they did have some, but going from 120 little bulbs to 4,000 on one Christmas tree seemed a leap too huge.

Fortunately I was able to get one of the last packs of lights in another store. There are still ten days until Christmas; how can everyone be sold out?

And I'm still unable to book a delivery/pick-up slot for next week from Sainsburys. Starting to look as if a 6.30 am shopping trip could be on the cards. Especially as Wales enters lockdown again on 26th December.

I had an emotional moment in the pantry this morning. I had just put my children's Christmas stockings in the bin.

Then it occurred to me I could put presents in them to transport them. So took them out of the bin again.
P.S. Do you notice the care and time I took over the stockings decreased per child?

Yes, my grocery deliveries always come within two days so I was taken aback to find this time that I'd have to wait nearly two weeks! But since we've just gone into lockdown again ... for a month, this time... I suppose it's logical.
Definitely frozen pizza for Christmas lunch this year!

All Christmas stuff is flying off the shelves this year because people are really trying to make things festive and jolly at home. We even have a (real) Christmas tree shortage here in Canada, if you can imagine. And our country is friggin' COVERED in fir and pine trees!

Probably there are thousands of Christmas lights stuck in a container at Felixstowe, along with lots of other Christmas bits and bobs.

Chwck Sainsbury's again! I'm in Swansea and got a collection slot for Tuesday 22nd this morning at 7am. They were slots available at all hours of the day.

Perhaps I should save the frozen lasagna for Christmas since I've heard nary a peep from #1 Daughter about the frozen turkey slices she had promised us from their Thanksgiving meal. I think she probably didn't have as many leftovers as she had planned, so the two nurses got them.
