My friend's father died and I intended to show my respect (and love for her) by standing on the road as the funeral cortege passed.
As we were in bed last night Husband said, 'What time do you have to be there tomorrow?'
I said, 'I forgot to check. I'll do it first thing in the morning.'
8.50 this morning, having just got up and still in my dressing gown, I checked. Whoops. Should be there in twenty minutes. Not going to make it. Rubbish friend.
And I had quite a good day yesterday. Cleaned the bathroom, 'went' to church, walked George, did Welsh lesson, edited novel, made pizza. Felt I could say, 'I'm not a waste of space today.'
Must try harder.

A spotted woodpecker has called in for his breakfast for the last four days.

You would post a puzzle, Liz. I'm guessing that your woodpecker is a Great Spotted; but, is it? Or a Less Spotted? We have several species of similar-looking woodpeckers in the States, three of which we've seen in our yard/woods. Thanks for the photo.
Happy to hear that you were not a waste of space, yesterday - unlike many of us I'll wager.
According to our book, CopCar, the lesser is only the size of a sparrow, and this was much larger. From the amount of red on his head we think he is a juvenile as well.
How time slips away from us some days. Not the day before for you!
My friend's mother died a couple of weeks ago, I have the card and a stamp but I keep forgetting to post it!
What's in the bird feeder? Very solid porridge?
It does, Marie. Just vanishes.
I have done that so often, Polly!
Fat balls, Sonata.
Oh, I thought those were for the winter.
Are they, Sonata? No wonder they're so popular now!
As long as the summer heat doesn't melt the balls, I should think like to keep them out for the birds. Unfortunately, our summer weather does not allow that.
Please insert "that you would" after "like". Aaargh
Perhaps I should have my head vacuumed (tired from having been up too long, already). After/before - ?????
