You can tell this was/is one of my favourite cookbooks! It's The Times Calendar Cookbook by Katie Stewart, originally published in 1975, in this cover.
The cover came off mine a long time ago but the recipes are as good as ever.
However yesterday I did throw away a towel I've had since before we were married. It belonged to my great-aunt who died in the car crash I was also in. It's been well-used and only fairly recently was downgraded to a George towel, only to finally meet its end when I did this with it.
I was reluctant but I can't really use it again, even for George!

I think you got your money's worth out of that towel. And out of that cookbook! Well-loved and well-used recipes always look like that. Enjoy the ribs!
When my first daughter was born my then husband worked for a prestigious cigar company. The owner sent us a beautiful pink baby bath towel from Harrods. Then my second daughter arrived and it was in regular use. When my daughters left home it was showing signs of wear so it was relegated to the dogs I had then. I was quite sad when it almost fell to pieces
Our original bath towels were used for forty years and are now dog towels too. One of these days they will be gone too.
WE did, Debra.
I'm glad other people get the most out of their towels too!

ALSO, copy and paste the links into your browser and the pages will show up.
I also use a cookbook from years back - got it in 1967. Old bath towels - I save and use as "go to the beach" towels -well, save until they have more holes than towel!
