Men in charge

Bit of a funny weekend. Felt inclined to take to my bed for the rest of lockdown. Shaken it off now I think - more or less.

The Welsh First Minister outlined Welsh policy of Friday saying, basically, as you were. Carry on locking down. I think we are now allowed out more than once a day for exercise and some garden centres may be reopening, but in Wales, as in Scotland, we're sticking with the Stay at Home motto, as opposed to England's Stay Alert, which means precisely nothing. Except as many commentators have pointed out, the onus on not catching the virus is very much being directed at us. Or the English anyway. 'Have you caught it? Oh dear, you should have been alert.'

I keep trying to catch the virus out by suddenly, when it's least expecting it, glancing over my shoulder. I haven't spotted it yet though. Maybe I'm still not alert enough.

In other news I am preparing to lead bible study tomorrow night. We're looking at the story of Esther, one that I am unfamiliar with. It's a short book and an easy read. Some wonderful touches, like when the king wants a new Queen they send out for all the most beautiful virgins in the land. Then they pamper them for a year with oils and make up. Then they are deemed ready to meet the king. I could do with a bit of that pampering, or at least a haircut!

But we've only just started and I'm looking at a bit in chapter 1 where ... well, this is the crux of it:
I'm having fun with this.

I asked Husband who was in charge in our house. He said, 'George. Or at least he must think he is when he wakes us up at 3.00 am.'

It's true. We generally can come to agreement: Husband says no but I still manage to get my way. Except for babies. I wanted another one.

Oh yes, and the similarities between King Xerxes and modern national leaders is striking! Some things never change.
