4.30 am George whines to go out.
I get up and let him out. I watch from the study while he does a wee then I go and open the front door again and call him.
He is standing on the front lawn looking around. He looks at me and then he sits down.
I have learned from past experience that shouting at him doesn't work.
I try cajoling. 'Come on, lovely boy, there's a good boy, come on.'
He ignores me.
I put on my sandals and gilet over my nightie and run out into the front garden and encourage him, using the foot to bum method. He frowns at me but gets up and slowly makes his way into the house.
I get back to bed ten minutes after getting up and wide awake. I spend the next hour trying to remember the name of House's best buddy (Wilson), and practising how to say music in Welsh (cerddoriaeth).

Arthritis? Else X-ray his hips for HD.
George is master of the house!
Yes, he is arthritic, Stu.
Most definitely, Debra.
LOL, bless him.
Our grand-dog has done the middle of the night run on occasion when she visits. She often wants to check out something she’s heard in the night! That dog!
My sympathy about 4am animals. I have a cat that comes to bed with me then, wants under the covers, and digs claws into chubby body so I won't move around. Ugh. I get up.
I can recommend Metacam (Meloxicam) pills for George's arthritis.
It'll remove some of the pain for him.
