Stockpiling

I decided I should take this thing seriously.

And just in time my newest thing arrived.
I saw someone, on Twitter I think, express her delight in her new reading journal and I realised it was what was missing in my life. Hers had an alphabetical index and I decided mine had to too, so I searched until I found this.

And, amazingly, in the library this morning I saw a woman using one to check she hadn't read the books she was choosing. It was a notebook she'd adapted and she said she'd used one for years.

Don't forget the wine. And the thermometer.

I haven't yet got to the point of forgetting whether I've read something (usually skimming the first few page or two will tell me) but no doubt that day will arrive....

My Ozzie daughter suggested adding wine and chocolate to my Netflix viewing. I keep a file on my laptop of all the books I read and my comments about them.

Don't drink wine, Nick. Husband does but he has a Virgin subscription so he already has a stockpile.

I write some reviews on my blog, Polly, but not all.

Sometimes, I find that at about the half-way point in a book, it is familiar - as in - I've read it, before. Sometimes, thrice! Books (particularly novels) don't stick with me very long. I do keep an Excel file of books that I've read, and carry it with me on my phone; but, I usually don't bother looking up books to see if I've read them before checking them out of the library.

Good luck with your new journal.

One of my book club friends records every book she reads. I reread some because I forget I’ve read them.

I've got to the stage when I really couldn't tell you if I've read it before or not.
It really only matters if it's a whodunnit...

I'm glad I'm not alone in my forgetfulness!

What is really annoying, Sonata, is if you get to the end and remember whodunnit just before it's revealed!

Liz is getting to the stage where she keeps a list of books she's written, so she doesn't rewrite them ;-)
Been there, done that with my blog ;-)

Book journal - interesting. Usually I can tell by the jacket synopsis if I've read a book or no but occasionally one sneaks in on me. Myself, I carry a list of books I want to find, buy/check out from library, and read. Works for me!

It's true, Stu, that I looked back through my work in progress yesterday and found completely unfamiliar bits. Did I write that?

Sad but true, CopCar.

Sometimes I remember instantly, Pam, others not so. Basically it means having a new notebook which is always lovely.
