When fiction intrudes in real life

Or possibly vice versa.

The day before yesterday, in a novel set in 1950s Oman, I read about a character called Bilal.
Yesterday I had a FaceBook friend request from someone I don't know called Bilal.

Co-incidence? Or fiction becoming reality?

Given the book about ghosts I'm reading at the moment, I hope not.

Unusual name, to me anyway. Love it.

@Marie Smith,
Bilal ibn Ribah (بِلَال ٱبْن رِبَاح), was one of the most trusted and loyal Sahabah (companions) of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was born in Mecca and is considered to have been the first mu'azzin, chosen by Muhammad himself.

Just a different culture from yours :-)

Hmmm... did you by chance read the novel in an e-book time on your phone, tablet, or computer? If so, it may be related and not a coincidence. I have that happen often with anything I do online.

In the above, “time” was meant to be “tome”. Damnable autocorrect foiled my effort. :)
