And birthday number 2 - the BIG one

Our firstborn arrived in the world at 2.05 pm on 9th February. Today is a significant/big birthday for her but I'm not allowed to say what it is. In spite of not wanting to acknowledge the age she has reached she still wanted to make a big deal out of celebrating.

So on Thursday she went out with a friend. On Friday we went for a spa day. Daughter-in-law travelled down from Surrey to join us and Nuora. I booked the package assuming a spa hotel would have a swimming pool. They didn't.

So the spa part of the deal was a bit disappointing as it was only really a sauna and hot tubs. The indoor hot tub was already filled by a group of women so we asked them to open the outdoor one. In the drizzling rain we sat and laughed in lovely hot water. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of that but this is us before we started.
And this is part of the afternoon tea we enjoyed. Would you believe we couldn't manage to eat all those cakes?
After that we all had beauty treatments, massage and facial for Daughter and me, while Daughter-in-law and Nuora had all over body massages.

None of us is experienced at this spa lark so we were a bit giggly and uncertain but that just added to the fun.

Yesterday I looked after the children and helped them make a birthday cake, while Daughter and Son-in-law went shopping and out to lunch, and today we're all off to Prezzo to celebrate later, including Younger Son, Nuora, and children so we can celebrate GrandDaughter's first birthday at the same time.

Happy Birthday to your daughter! But four of you couldn't eat all those sweet treats? *shakes head* You should have asked me along. I'd have finished the job!

What a lovely birthday celebration.

Those treats look quite tempting. I don't understand how your gang failed to consume every morsel.

Thanks all!

We had a large plate of sandwiches to eat as well! And being well-brought-up ladies we ate those first. But Daughter took the left-overs home in a doggy bag.
