All morning yesterday I kept feeling the urge to bake.
Tuesday used to be my regular baking day as I always made cake for Zac's but since Gregg's the bakers have started giving us their leftovers there is no need for my cake. And being on a diet, seemingly permanently, baking isn't high on my to-do list. But I do enjoy making cake.
So yesterday I gave in and made Mary Berry's lemon crunch cake and very nice it is too. Not as lemony as a drizzle cake but very light.
I also tried out a new dinner recipe, chicken adobo, which apparently is a classic Philipino dish. That was nice too. It was described as being sweet and salty and sour. I'm not sure how accurate that is but we finished the panful.
I decided I'd pay a visit to my old church this morning. At the end of the service a friend came up to me and said, 'We've been praying for you.'
'Oh ... thank you.'
'We knew you'd be suffering following the news of the fire in the Malteser factory.'
'What?!'
Don't fret, Malteser lovers: the fire was actually in the factory that produces the malt for the -eser and a spokesman for the company said, 'Production has not been affected.' Phew.

I love a good lemon loaf myself. Glad the Malteser factory escaped destruction.
Me too, Debra, to both.
Lol. Glad malteser was unaffected.
Me too, Marie!
mmmm They both look delicious.
