The holy habit of eating together

In Zac's for our bible study we're looking at the early church, and following a book called Holy Habits, which covers all the different aspects of how the followers of Jesus lived. This week we'd reached the 'eating together' bit and what better way to study a subject than by doing it.
The table was set.

The bolognese was made.

And plates were cleared. These are some of our regulars.

And this is the head chef trying to avoid having his photo taken. It was great having him to take over in the kitchen while I prepared the table and the little extras.

Jesus frequently ate with people, especially with those who were considered 'not the right sort'. He used the times to build relationships and well as teach.

Word must have got out that food was being served as there was an influx of non-regulars, which was just as well as we had loads of food!

Very nice!!!! I agree with the notion of faith and food working in tandem with each other.

I have to ask.... is this scene in someone’s home or is it perhaps a church space? I wonder, because until I saw the food being prepared by a member of the group.... I initially assumed you had met at a restaurant or some such place..... the first image initially looked to me like a small restaurant. I hope it was as fun and spiritually stimulating as the images make it seem!!!

It's in Zac's, PipeTobacco, which is our church meeting place. It's an old gospel hall. In fact I'll do a post on it and include photos so you get a better idea.

I think everyone enjoyed it, Debra. I felt happy at the end.

Do you take it in turns to help with the clearing up?

One of the other leaders donned his rubber gloves and stood at the sink for ages once we'd filled the dishwasher, Sonata. There are usually a couple of people who hang around and help tidy up. Nothing formal.
