How to be cool on the hottest day of the year

Hottest day of the year, possibly hottest July day ever, the sort of day you want to be somewhere you can cool down. Like the seaside. Or an A&E department.

Yep, Husband, sun-worshipper extraordinaire, had a heart attack.

Sunday afternoon he did his frequent, 'I'm having a heart attack' thing. (With me it's appendicitis or a brain tumour.) We didn't pay much attention and it passed. On Monday, having serviced his bike, he went for a ride for the first time for ages and got bad pains again. (And a puncture but that's not really relevant.) Fortunately he was near the surgery. His blood pressure was sky high and the doctor sent him for blood tests, telling him not to do any exercise and to go back and see her today.

But after an achy though not very painful few days, when a pain woke him up from sleeping at 5 on Wednesday morning, he prodded me and said, 'Okay, you can take me to hospital now.'

Long day in A&E where they confirmed he had a heart attack most probably on Sunday. He is now in hospital waiting to see the cardio doctor and to have tests to find out what caused it and what needs to be done to stop a more serious one in future. The doctor also noted that he has a heart murmur.

More news as it comes ... or probably later as I'm sort of occupied at the moment. Prayers or good wishes gratefully accepted.

How worrisome for you both. Speaking for myself, I'll understand the paucity of your blogging and miss you. First things first! Good wishes to you both.

all together more excitement that you need, but you're in the right place and everything is organised and at hand.
i hope he feels much better very quickly and you can have a calmer weekend.

Thanks both. He's not in pain now just fed up as he has to stay in hospital over the weekend as they don't do the tests on Saturdays or Sundays.

Thinking of you both Liz - I always think this is the best kind of way to find out about heart stuff, but still alarming and of course not without its implications. Much love - glad you are OK and he's safe, if a bit fed up! Chalky xx

Sorry to hear that. My personal experience is that a stent will help :-)

All the best to you both.
