In my post-Christmas enthusiasm I've had a major splurge ... purge ... a splurge purge? Whatever I've cleared out a lot of cookery books that I haven't looked at for years. My shelves now look like this:
Only not exactly because I realise the camera was on a strange colour setting. Even so I think you can tell which ones are my most used.
One book I didn't discard was this:
When we lived in Southampton a mum in school suffered the loss of a baby through cot death. A friend and I, with loads of help, put this book together to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit in the hospital. We raised £1,000, which was a lot of money back in the 1980s.
Many years later I was involved in another project, this time to produce a recipe book for Linden Church, in aid of Mutende Children's Village in Zambia.
Notice the themes? Cooking, food, children? Only need to add dog and books to sum me up.

I remember when doing community cookbooks for sale was all the rage to raise money. I think every church, school and organization produced one! And they often had the best recipes -- tried and true ones!
Those you've eaten at someone's home that someone else has cooked always taste nicer, Debra.
