Just been booked to talk to a women's group in January. The lady who phoned me said she reads my articles in The Bay and they 'always pack a punch.' Wonderful. Now I have to live up to that in person!
The Bay is only a small local magazine delivered to maybe 15,000 homes and businesses yet I am regularly being surprised by the people who read it. I've been spoken to by fellow dog-walkers who've read my articles, the woman who runs the Chinese retirement home in Swansea told me she enjoyed them, and at least one church has Zac's on its prayer list because of my article. Quite an impact for 800 words a month. I am honoured to have the opportunity but also as I reflect on it I realise that some of my articles are quite personal about my doubts and fears. Maybe I should be more circumspect I think. But then, they wouldn't pack the punch. So I'll carry on as I do, embarrassing Husband and George, and myself.
And until January I can forget that I have inflicted on myself yet again the terror of speaking to a group of people. For today I'll worry about the cholesterol blood test I'm having.
The doctor asked, 'Is there anything else you'd like to be tested for as we're doing a blood test?'
'Um, no, I don't think so.'
I was on the seafront playing with GrandSon4 when she rang otherwise I might have been more present and said, 'I'll take anything you're offering.'

Sugar? Iron? She'll probably have a few tests up her sleeve and surprise you but they can do a lot with a small amount. It won't be like that Tony Hancock sketch about "an armful!".
I am very proud of myself: I didn't nearly faint this time!
Can I read your column online??
I found the link. Dur. Hinds' Sights, I like that :-)
