My most brilliant idea EVER!

Now when I suggested my last brilliant idea for an app, How Big Is It?, I was laughed at but who doesn't want to know how big that spire is when you're standing next to it? I still think it's a winner but anyway, my new idea. I say my most brilliant idea rather than the most brilliant idea because on the scale of brilliant ideas it probably ranks below penicillin and telephones but above reality television and Brexit. (Way way above Brexit.)

These days my walks with George are so short and slow I probably absorb more calories from the atmosphere than I use in walking with the result that my fitness is suffering. Pondering this today as we were meandering over the tip I realised the answer. No, not run. I hate running. But this is where my brilliant idea comes in.

Not actual app but just to give you an idea
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present From Couch to Stable: how to get fit by galloping. The ideal app for people who hate running.

I am very excited about it. With Elder Son's computery expertise and my creativity I don't see how it can fail. I wonder if we can get it in the stores before Christmas. George and I can make an exercise video to sell alongside it.

'But what's the difference between running and galloping?' I hear you ask. Ignoring the fact it's a stupid question I'll explain. When you're galloping you can throw in the occasional Yee-ha!, slap your thigh, say, 'whoooah, boy!' and even attempt jumps (imaginary - must remember to specify that).

We'll start off with a warm-up trot before beginning to canter with the odd short gallop thrown in. You can increase - as I'll explain in full detail on the app - the times you spend on each bit as your fitness level improves. I'll also stress the need to drink plenty, which unless you're in the mountains where you're assured of a certain purity of stream water means taking your own non-plastic water bottle. (Horses care about the environment too.)

I'll also mention the seasonal options of frequent stops to browse on blackberries, forage for mushrooms, and shelter under trees in the rain. (I know real horses don't have to shelter but we're not real horses.)

I am so excited about it. I shared my idea with Husband. He sort-of smiled and said, 'Good luck with that.' Elder Son is more enthused. He said it 'sounds good.' That's all the encouragement I need.

I shall message Miranda Hart now. She is a galloping fan.

Take a wooden branch, exactly 5 ft. 6 inches long with you.
This is the infamous gallop pole ;-)

Ha ha, Stu!

*groaning over Stu's input* In our area, we don't shelter from rain under trees - unless we're courting a lightning strike. Other than that, sounds good! (Does your app take into account that humans gallop with one foot in front of the other, rather than alternating as in running? Or is this an app for galloping on horses?)
Cop Car
P.S. Gallup Poll has been running for about 70 years, now. Not sure how that relates to a light-year.

As long as I don't have to chant 'clippety-clop' the whole way, I might get stared at in the supermarket.

Would we have to grow our manes long enough to toss?

Cop Car, my app will have to take into account the need to change the leading leg - although I know that will be difficult. I always lead with my right. Sheltering is optional.

Clippety clopping won't be necessary or even encouraged, sonata, as you will need your breath for galloping. Mane tossing also is an optional extra. Though one I love the sound of.

I'm so glad people are getting onboard with this brilliant idea. I'd love to hear about any more problems/options you come up with.
