Today is the first day of the rest of my life

And even though it's started badly - on the scales this morning I found that my already excess weight has increased by one pound from last week - I am feeling in better spirits. A new start. Sensible eating, fitting in more exercise (or trying to at least), writing daily (ditto), and, most importantly, living life to the full. (As Leslie reminded me I'd resolved to do!)

With rock stars of varying levels of fame popping off on an almost daily basis since the year began, and all of them only a few years older than I, it's time to grab those moments again.

Yes another one bites the dust.

Interestingly I've been discussing "old age" as a topic as part of my counselling course. Most people seem to say "I'm not in old age until I get into my 70s" Interesting, average male life expectancy in the UK is still less than 80 according the latest ONS figures I could find. And all these rock stars and film stars (except Lemmy who was in his 70s) are all dying before what we class as "old age"... I'm wondering if I should stop worrying about my "old age" and starts worrying about just getting there?

I will not consider myself to be "old" until the day I die. I will continue to live extravagantly until that moment! So there! And I will drag you with me, Liz! Seriously, though, it does seem as though every day there's a new one hits the dust and it is rather distressing.

Definitely stop worrying about being old and concentrate on getting there, Graham.

In my family it seems to be the case that you either die young or old, Leslie, not in-between. I'm thinking about our road trip!

Bus pass age, Mrs N! Happy days.
