I know I didn't want to be sitting in the 'hooligan' section but the bit we were sitting in was dead. There was no atmosphere or engagement with the play; we could have been at a vicar's tea party. (The Arsenal end was much noisier and livelier.)
Not that the game engendered much excitement. It was just a crowd of men kicking a ball around, mostly backwards.
And, to make matters worse, I was under the impression it was virtually compulsory to eat pie at football matches and I'd gone along, ready to forgo my diet for the cause - and they'd sold out! And we were there early!
So I've been and I'm glad I went but give me rugby every time.

Rugby you get beer and Football you get Pies .. Of course the Arsenal end was much noisier .. they love their footie :-)
Football is not a tactile game, like Rugby, you just concentrate on getting the ball to the player and in the goal , .. Not like scrums etc .
Want a fee pie? I have my contacts you know.
Wow! I am surprised because even here we have to always be alert to the fans storming the field! Maybe they were all hung over from New Years.
Not been to a match since the 80s and won't be going anytime soon either
No, rugby is much more exciting, anne.
I might take you up on that, mrsn!
Apparently it's because it was a cup game not a league game and some of the regulars weren't there, leslie. So I'm told!
Nor me, jams. Rugby now ...
I don't think storming the field is allowed anymore ..
