Natural Born Father

Just back from visiting GrandSon. He is absolutely gorgeous and I have to resist the urge to eat him. (I did have to kiss his bottom though because it's the law.)

And what delights me is seeing Elder Son with his son. He cuddles and kisses him, talks to and reads to him, changes him and proudly pushes him in his pram. Elder Son hasn't been used to babies and struggled to hold GrandDaughter (his niece) easily but now, with his own, already it's as natural as if he were born to it.

It is such a joy to watch.

Isn't it wonderful to see your son as a father? I'm sure these are special times for all of you.

How wonderful...in my/our day husbands didn't much want to handle babies until they were toilet trained. Modern husbands/fathers are so much better at parenting than we or our own parents were - I think.

I was never good with other people's babies... even those in the family until we had our own. Suddenly it did seem all alright - and despite some of the trials of tribulations in the family (mostly of my making) the kids have turned out rather well so far so can't have been too bad a Dad.

I'm still not totally comfortable with babies... I prefer them once they are running around with a mischievous grin like my great nephew does :-)
