Yet again the best laid plans ...

The last few years we've been out for New year Eve's but this year we were planning a quiet one. Younger Son and Girlfriend have gone to Cornwall so we have the house to ourselves. I work Fridays so Husband was going to shop and cook a meal for us tonight and then we were going to have a nice romantic evening together. That was the plan.

On the journey home from Devon last night we had a phone call from Sister-in-law who is on holiday in Lanzarote telling us Mother-in-law is in hospital. Husband had spoken to her the day before and she'd been okay then but obviously something had happened in the mean time.

So instead of our nice romantic evening we're off to Derby this afternoon. Hey ho.

But a very happy New Year to you all!

Oh dear Liz ..hope your mother-in-law is ok and whatever it is she recovers very soon.

My hubby has the flu .. (you know what that means) he is bad bad bad .. I have had it on and off since boxing day.

Have a Happy New Year.. I have no plans for the new year yet... looking for a new job is the most inportant thing ,,, otherwise nothing else and not sure if Blogging is going to be something I can do anymore .. we shall see.

That is sad but you are going to be in the right place, of course.

We have plans that have gone awry but nothing that can't be fixed.

Take care and

As John Lennon said, life is what happens while you are busy making other plans. I hope the news isn't too bad.

And may we still wish you a Happy New Year .... and may 2011 be full of romantic evenings !

I hope your mother-in-law is back on the road to health soon. Best wishes for a Happy New Year to you, too, Liz!

I sure have heard a lot of bad stories today. I cannot believe and they all involve ill health of loved ones, both from my church friens and now two bloggers.

I surely pray your mother in law improves rapidly. You can have the romantic evening any evening --but then you know that.

How is she, Liz? Unfortunate start to the year, but years are only a collection of days and we can't let one be the model for the whole. Prayers for her recovery, for your sanity (I mean that in a good way--not it a recovering sanity way--in a continuing sanity way.) and for lots of good days in 2011.

I hope everything works out. I'm getting confused about who is where. Mother in Law is not in Lanzarotte, she's in Derby, right?

You do a lot of travel, Liz.

I know Americans would laugh at this. Apparently a 4-hour drive each way is considered normal out there just to pick up groceries from a supermarket.

But here in the UK Mumbles Devon and back and then to Derby is a hell of a long way!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
