I'm a granny!

Grand-daughter was born at 8 am today.

Daughter phoned to tell me and she sounded remarkably good after 44 hours of labour - without drugs! She and Son-in-law had been left alone with Baby even before Baby was weighed. And they haven't settled on a name yet so I don't have any more details.

Daughter said they'd phone back to tell me what they were doing and what time visiting is. Since then I've put in even more washing, cleaned the living-room and had my umpteenth cup of tea. (I thought to myself, 'Can a girl have too many cups of tea?' I decided the answer was no.)

Sure as omelette is eggs as soon as I get in the shower they'll phone.

Oh, and the kitchen fitter arrived at 8.05 am. It's all happening today. I should have known there was an inevitability about it.

P.S. In case of any confusion, Baby and I are in Devon; Husband and the kitchen fitter are in Swansea.

Oh, Liz...I'm doing a happy dance here for you all! SOOOOOO thankful to hear all went well! Do they not allow other family to be present during delivery in the UK? Unless it's C-section, anyone the parents allow can attend here. When Dylan was born it was like Grand Central Station, haha! Us, my d-i-l's mom, an 'adopted' grandma/friend of theirs, etc. Seeing his head crown and then all 10 lbs. 8 oz. of him slither on in to the world was the most amazing thing I've ever witnessed in my life. I'm in Grandma Bliss for you here in my corner of the world!

Congratulations to Daughter and Son-in-law and to your family! I'm so happy for you, Liz! You might as well get in the shower--the phone will be sure to ring then. Seriously, Daughter is so lucky to have you there to help out; she must be exhausted! Enjoy this special time with your precious new grandchild.

Congratulations! There is nothing quite like becoming a grandmother. I hope you have many chances to spoil the newest addition to your family--but George will think it smells funny and is too loud--but he will learn to love it too!

I think you picked a strange time to go on your hols. Honestly, you should have stayed home to look after your daughter... still - any chance of popping over to Brodpirt at all? By the way super congrats etc. etc etc.
